Arrive in Cape Town. As you transfer to your hotel, you'll see Table Mountain, the symbol of the city. The rest of the day is at leisure.

This morning, take a city tour of Cape Town. Drive to Kloof Nek and Table Mountain, where you can ascend to the top (weather permitting) by cable car*. The route then leads to famous landmarks such as the Castle of Good Hope, the City Hall, the Grand Parade, and St. George's Cathedral. In the afternoon, take a ferry** across the Bay to visit Robben Island, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour the historic Robben Island's prison before returning to Cape Town. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager
**The operation of the Robben Island ferry is dependent on weather and sea conditions. If the ferry is canceled, the visit to Robben Island will be replaced with alternate sightseeing.

Depart your lodge and journey toward Johannesburg. Take a scenic drive through Pretoria, South Africa's administrative capital, renowned for its tree-lined streets and historic landmarks. View the Union Buildings, the official seat of government; the Voortrekker Monument, Church Square with its historic architecture, and the many jacaranda-lined avenues that give Pretoria its nickname, the "Jacaranda City." Arrive in the late afternoon and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Today, explore Soweto, an important historical neighborhood in Johannesburg. Drive by the former residence of Bishop Desmond Tutu and visit Nelson Mandela's former home, with its expansive multimedia exhibits outlining his life. Continue to the Apartheid Museum, where you will journey through the racial segregation experienced by millions of South Africans. Tonight, at dinner, bid farewell to your Tour Manager.

Short power outages are a regular occurrence in South Africa. Hotels in major cities
are equipped with back-up generators so there are no interruptions to normal
services, however hotels outside of major cities may have supplemental generators
that provide electricity to only essential services
Things to Consider: Expect several days with early mornings. This tour includes
animal-related activities which carry inherent risks, as animal behavior can be
unpredictable. You may choose not to participate. While the majority of South Africa is
malaria-free, visitors to Kruger National Park are encouraged to consult their health
care providers regarding malaria prophylaxis. We suggest you check with your health
care provider before signing up for this tour.
Transportation: There is one day with over 5 hours of driving. Game drives will be
conducted in small safari vehicles that cannot be air-conditioned and have high
ground clearance that requires agility to embark and disembark.
Pace & Terrain: Expect 3-4 hours of walking on included sightseeing days, as well
as considerable time standing. You may need to walk on uneven and challenging
terrain, navigate steep steps or slopes, and encounter cobblestone streets.
